Legislative Update - ACRI Opposes AB 508

ACRI is opposing AB 508 (Swanson-D).  AB 508 would prevent bid-winning companies from retaining existing employees when providing contract services.  Such an action unfairly penalizes those employees who have a long standing relationship with a company that is awarded a public bid - placing jobs at risk.  At a time when our state is facing an unprecedented high unemployment level, AB 508 translates into additional job losses in California.

ACRI is supporting AB 316 (Carter-D).  AB 316 creates a fine and punishment for the grand theft of copper.  With the prevalence of metal thefts from large construction sites, public utility yards, rural areas and schools, AB 316 will help decrease the rise of metal theft across the state.

ACRI is relaunching its website with the aim of improving member services, building a stronger community of independent recyclers, and furthering ACRI's objectives and public outreach efforts.

The ACRI board is excited to introduce to you a number of new features.  ACRI's new site will be social media savvy and feature relevant and timely newsfeeds, articles and blog entries.  We hope that by providing these new features, our members will be able to stay better informed about the many important issues that affect the recycling industry.  The website will also provide a convenient way to keep up with ACRI's exciting upcoming membership meetings and golf tournaments.

We are just getting started, but will be adding features on an ongoing basis.  We invite you to have a look around the new site, create an online account, and send us your feedback.
